For the many people who are struggling, and all those who love them, knowing about 988 could make all the difference in the world.

About Project988.com
In the weeks leading up to the one-year anniversary of 988 in the U.S., I spoke to and photographed over 100 people—and only one person knew the number. According to NAMI, only 17% of adults were familiar with 988. Project 988 is here to help change that. Ideally, it would have become bigger and more organized in scope, a shared interactive experience that let people upload their own 988 portraits and artwork; or pay tribute to a loved one. 988 can help save lives. But only if people know the number. It was an honor helping spread the word and taking all of your portraits. If you don’t see your photo, there are hundreds more here, including many from NAMI Westchester’s Walk.

Note: Project988.com launched before anyone had ever heard of Project2025. The mental health crisis is a non-partisan issue, but who we vote into office will play a role in everyone’s well-being and mental health.

In How Not to Kill Yourself, expert on the subject, Clancy Martin says there are two ways to help prevent suicide:
1. Get rid of any guns in the house.
2. Call or text 988. Talking helps.
